A Milestone: CRDX Ships its First Hydrogen Control Panel
January 18, 2022
CRDX has shipped out its first Hydrogen Control Panel - bound for installation as part of a critical auxiliary system for a hydrogen-cooled generator. Our consultants worked directly with the customer on specifications and design - manufacturing was handled by the parent company Met Weld International in New York.
The system supports safety and operational efficiency by continuously monitoring gas purity throughout various modes of generator operation. It is designed for use in Class I/Div 2/ATEX Zone 2, and IECEx/Zone 2 hazardous area environments and is suitable for both scavenging or vacuum-type seal oil systems.

CRDX Supports First-of-its-kind Demonstration at Brentwood Power Station
[ALTAMONT NY, November 5, 2021---]
CRDX is providing its hydrogen gas blending system to a new demonstration project at the New York Power Authority’s Brentwood Power Station; a short-term installation designed to explore the ability of transitioning a natural gas fired turbine to run on green hydrogen.
According to NYPA, “the first-of-its-kind demonstration will evaluate the effects of different concentrations of hydrogen blended with natural gas at regular intervals to assess the blend’s effect on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and its overall system and environmental impacts, including nitrogen oxide emissions. At the close of this project, peer-reviewed results will be shared with the industry and the public to better inform what efforts can help New York State reach its goal of reducing carbon emissions 85 percent by 2050.The project is expected to last between six and eight weeks.”
CRDX, a Met Weld International brand, has been designing and manufacturing gas conditioning, blending, and monitoring equipment for decades. It will be their Hydrogen Blending System that will support the NYPA’s nation-leading demonstration.
CRDX was developed to help customers achieve their carbon reduction goals. “We have the ability to leverage decades of experience in designing and manufacturing conditioning, gas blending, and monitoring equipment for the power gen industry to help our customers meet the requirements for blending green hydrogen and other transitional fuels” said Morgan Connor, President and Founder of CRDX. “Our organization has the technical expertise, manufacturing know-how and industry knowledge to support the development of the technologies needed to support the energy transition”, Connor added.
CRDX was organized in 2020 by Morgan Connor, the President of Gavial Holdings and Met Weld International, to help customers meet the unique requirements for blending green hydrogen and other transitional fuels. NATURAL GAS CONDITIONING
A Simple Start to Reducing Carbon Emissions: Natural Gas Conditioning
While our industry contemplates the largest and most complex challenges of delivering an affordable net zero energy future, CRDX offers this uniquely simple perspective: Start by reducing carbon emissions with a focus on maximizing turbine efficiency.
Increased Turbine Efficiency = Lower Carbon Utilization.
Where are the opportunities to increase turbine efficiency? One answer lies within your natural gas fuel conditioning systems, where optimizing pressure, flow, and temperature – combined with removing impurities and other fuel contaminants -- leads to more efficient turbine operation.
Here are the building blocks that are critical to efficient turbine operation. If you would like us to personally assess your system profile, fill out our Project Intake Form or email Steve Kilmartin at skilmartin@crdxs.com.
-
Knock out drums and Scrubbers - to remove larger quantities of liquids and solids from the gas stream, typically down to 12 microns.
-
Absolute Filter/Separators - to remove all free liquids and solids from the gas stream, typically down to 0.3 microns.
-
Pressure Regulation - to reduce the incoming gas pressure to a lower downstream pressure suitable for the combustion gas turbine.
-
Dew Point and Performance Heaters - to add superheat, typically up to 50 degrees F, to the fuel gas downstream of the absolute coalescing filter/separator.

HYDROGEN FUEL GAS BLENDING SYSTEMS - WHAT IS YOUR GOAL?
"What Is Your Goal?"
CRDX support of hydrogen blending projects usually starts with a few simple questions:
1. What is the H2 blend, by volume, your plant is seeking?
2. Are you planning to increase that %, and if so, to what future %?
3. What is the turbine’s daily natural gas consumption?
4. Are you considering green, blue or grey hydrogen – and have you identified the source already?
5. Does your project involve H2 bulk storage on site, or tube truck delivery?
These questions shape the conversation and will drive the design of primary system components/considerations:
1. Flow Regulator
2. Filters
3. Isolation Valves
4. Blending Chamber
5. Flow Control
6. Interface with the turbine control system
7. Gas Chromatograph
Whether you’re contemplating a retrofit or new build, CRDX can help identify the path to project success. Give Steve Kilmartin a call, or email him at skilmartin@crdxs.com.
